Scott Thorn from the Water Department has earned the 2016 One AWWA (American Water Works Association) Operator Scholarship. This scholarship is funded through the support of AWWA's The Water Education Campaign and the Indiana Section AWWA. One scholarship is awarded to each of the five districts of the Indiana Section.
Scott accepted an operator/maintainer position in the Water Department in February 2016. Prior to that, Scott worked for the Water Reclamation Department for fourteen years and currently holds his Wastewater Operator Class II license. In this new position with the Water Department, Scott is required to obtain his WT3 Water Treatment Operator certificate within two years. The certification exam is very challenging and the state-wide pass rate has been low. This scholarship provides full tuition for Scott to attend the water operator school class and to purchase training materials needed for the exam.
We wish Scott good luck with his certification exam!
