Ultraviolet Irradiation Disinfection Facility Upgrade 2015

DISINFECTING THE CITY'S WASTEWATER

The Water Reclamation Department Wastewater Treatment Facility has completed the $1.9 million replacement of their wastewater disinfection system. The facility is required to disinfect treated wastewaters during the months of April through October of every calendar year.

ENERGY EFFICIENCY

The new WEDECO ultraviolet system is designed to disinfect at a very low transmittance level and utilizes electricity more efficiently than the prior unit.

The design consultant on this project was MWH Global and the contractor was Bowen Engineering. The project oversight was provided by Resident Project Representative Bob Garmon and WRD Operations Manager Paul Scott.  The Redevelopment Commission partnered in this project and provided the financing for the system.
