When signing up for new service, a water security deposit may be required to complete the request. Please review for a description of each.
 

WATER SECURITY DEPOSIT


A contractor with good credit standing will not be required to make a $50 deposit. However, contractors with prior unpaid balances will be required to make a $50 deposit. Your deposit will be credited to your account after nine 9 months of good payment history or applied to your final bill.

The Water Security Deposit of $50 should be made out to Valparaiso City Utilities and mailed to our office at:

Deposits should be mailed within 10 working days. If the Water Security Deposit is not received within ten 10 working days, water service will be terminated at the service location.

Water Service Representative Policy


It is our policy that someone be present when our Water Service Representative turns the water on for a new account. Should this be the case, our Customer Service Representative will contact you to set up a specific time and day in which our representative will meet with you to turn on the water service. If the water service is already on, our representative will simply take a reading and you do not have to be present.

Utility Bill


Your utility bill includes water, sewer, stormwater, and trash pickup. You will not pay for stormwater and trash pickup if the house / business is outside city limits and will not pay for sewer if the house / business has a septic system.
